Policies & FAQ

Personal Belongings

Please note that you are more than welcome to bring anything from home that will make your pup comfortable. We cannot guarantee that items will be returned in the same condition they were brought, despite our best efforts.

Do you accept reactive dogs?

Please communicate to us if your pup has any history of aggression. Prior to your pup's visit we will have a discussion on a plan during their time with us. In order to keep everyone safe, we have the right to call for an early pick up and deny further bookings if your pup is putting our staff or other pups at risk. We must keep Wag a positive experience for everyone. If your dog shows aggression towards staff, we have the right to refuse service. Please note that we accept a limited number of dogs who may require extra management. Availability depends on staffing, facility capacity, and safety considerations. Some dogs may be placed on a waitlist to ensure everyone's safety and allow for proper rotation times.

Neutered/Spayed

We do accept intact dog. Their play program will be determined based on their behavior in a social group and the responses of other dogs. If a dog isn't thriving we will discuss options with you like staff one-on-one or a slower integration timeline. We do not accept female dogs who are in heat for the safety of them and others. If they are boarding with us and go into heat there will be an additional +$15/day charge to accommodate private play programs until someone is able to pick them up.

Boarding in the Same Kennel

We do allow boarding two or more dogs together in one kennel but you must know there are risks. Wag Martensville Dog Daycare & Boarding Centre will ensure to provide the utmost care and safety for your dog(s); however, being left overnight in a new space can become stressful and unfamiliar behavior can occur. Due to this, a waiver must be signed. An alternative is having your pups board side by side in separate kennels.

Unless otherwise indicated by the owner, we safely socialize your pup with all sizes. Our goal is to help desensitize small dogs to all sizes and to properly manage them in a group. We will not put your small dog with a high prey drive dog or a dog that plays too rough for little ones. We will ensure our "gentle giants" are the only ones around your tiny pooch and friends are carefully selected to make your pup comfortable!

  • Please give us at least hours for daycare cancellations
  • No-shows will be charged a no-show fee that is billed to your account
  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required prior to boarding confirmation
  • Our boarding facility has limited numbers to keep our boarding experience exceptional. Due to this, cancellations on short notice don't give us time to fill that spot which can result in large amounts of lost income.

Cancellation policy for boarding is as follows:

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to hold the spot.
  • Over 48 hours notice that deposit will become a credit on your account.
  • Anything less than 48 hours will result in that deposit being used to cover your pup's booking.

**We understand that there are circumstances that require cancellations. Please communicate with us and we will figure out a plan (Ex. dog is ill)

  • Wag Dog Daycare does not give refunds-only facility credit. If a reservation cannot be fulfilled, a refund will be processed.

If you do not bring kibble for your dog's overnight stay or do not bring enough, we have options that will be given to your dog for $4/day. Please note that switching kibble instantly can cause tummy problems and/or shows signs of allergies. It is highly recommended you pack extra-especially if your pup is free fed as they often work up an appetite playing all day!

Our facility runs on head counts and staff to dog ratios. Our turnover times are at 1pm and 5pm. If a dog is scheduled to be dropped off any time before 5pm, they take up a spot in our daycare roster for the full day and we cannot fill their spot. This fee is essentially a discounted daycare fee to help recoup the cost of a daycare up (regularly $40).

DAPP/DHPP and Rabies are required by our insurance. If your dog does not have these vaccines, our insurance is void and therefore are not allowed into our facility. Bordetella (aka kennel cough) is highly recommended but not a requirement according to our insurance. Please note that kennel cough can be asymptomatic and therefore we cannot guarantee your pup will not get sick at daycare as they are nose-to-nose with other dogs.

Our facility follows the industry standards of dog to staff ratios and surpasses the square footage to dog standards. Please read your email carefully to ensure you're not waitlisted. If you are waitlisted and you have chosen to submit payment, this will be processed as a refund to your card by the end of the day. We recommend booking days as soon as you know but typically our families book daycare week-to-week. Very hot or cold weather and holidays can fill up spots quicker so it is recommended to get these reservations in as soon as possible.

It really depends on what you have added on for your pup for the day! A basic outline of what a day at Wag looks like is the following:

  • Open/potty break: 6am-7am
  • Breakfast and rest period
  • Approx. 8:30-9am to 11:45am play group and potty breaks (about every hour we offer an outside break)
  • 11:45am to 1pm scheduled rest period, enrichment time, and lunch while staff cleans
  • 1pm to 5pm play group and potty breaks (about every hour we offer an outside break)
  • 5:30pm (ish) pups are kennelled for supper and final pick ups so staff can clean
  • 5:30pm to 7pm supper break (we are closed to the public from 6-7pm to ensure there are no disruptions)
  • 7pm-9:30pm playgroup and potty breaks (final potty break at 9:30pm)
  • Staff completes final clean of parks from 9:30-10pm

We can administer medications as long as they are clearly labeled & written instructions are provided. We are trained to administer basic medication and have many tips are tricks to ensure they are given. Please note that safety comes first and if a dog is aggressive to staff during administration, this may alter our ability to give meds. Please send methods of administration along as well (ex. cheese, chicken, pill pockets, etc) and specify if medication needs to be kept in the fridge or room temperature.

  • we clean our entire facility three times a day during the dog's rest periods
  • kennels, huts and suites are cleaned and sanitized daily
  • a dedicated kennel housekeeper focuses on common spaces, sanitization of kennels and huts, and deep clean tasks for 3 hours every day
  • water dishes are removed and replaced daily; food dishes are removed each meal
  • we use vet-approved KOE (kennel odour eliminator) for all floors and ensure floors are completely dry before pups return to play
  • we use a pet safe, child safe multipurpose spray to wipe down all couches and cots
  • all cots, toys, enrichment dishes and bowls are washed and rinsed using dawn dish soap and hot water
